The Masonic Lodge in Hanford was established with twenty-nine members in February of 1885. They met at Baker Hall for two years until the fire of 1887 destroyed Hanford's business district including Baker Hall. Members of the Hanford Masons were originally of the Lemoore Chapter and broke off to organize in Hanford. They constructed their own building in 1902 with downstairs store fronts since the beginning, the first being C.L. Rice Mortuary. It is still in active use by the Masonic Lodge.
